Abstract

Basing on quantitative data analyses, the article reflects some issues relating to divorce in Vietnam, including intention and situation of divorce. It is found that women are more likely to divorce than men. In particular, the rate of divorce of women is higher than that of men; women think of divorce more frequently than men do, and the number of divorces initiated by women is higher than that initiated by men. Nevertheless, the causes of divorce usually arise from men, commonly the problems relating to adultery, alcohol, gambling and money spending conflicts. These might force women to request for a divorce.
