SYMBOLS IN MODERN VIETNAMESE CATHOLIC POETRY

Abstract

In Catholic poetry, the poetic symbol is important in expressing the faith and philosophy of the poet about the humanity and life. Understanding poetic symbols helps us to understand the way of viewing and accessing life of the poets in order to   capture the meaning of the art world and the expressing methods of the modern Vietnamese Catholic poetry. In this article, we research the meaning of some prominent symbols of the Catholic poetry, such as the symbol of blood, soul, light, heaven, God  and the cross.
