GRASSROOTS POLITICAL SYSTEM AND INTERNAL BORDER SECURITY AND ORDER – THE CASE OF ETHNIC GROUPS IN THE VIETNAM-CHINA BORDER AREA

Abstract

Through the examination of survey data collected from three towns situated along the Vietnam-China border, this article elucidates the constructive collaboration among various ethnic groups in the execution of national policies related to defense and security, as well as the challenges that necessitate the attention of pertinent governmental departments. These challenges include the representation of ethnic groups within the political framework and the organization, coordination, and involvement in the mitigation of social ills by a ministry that serves the populace residing in the border region.
