Abstract

This study was conducted in Binh Phuoc province in 2017 with GTZ's ValueLinks approach. The research results show that there are 5 market channels in Binh Phuoc province. Of these, 48% of cashew nut production are channeled through domestic market channels and the rest (52%) through channels using imported materials. Market channels through intermediaries (traders, agents) accounted for 98% of cashew production in the country. Cashew growers will benefit (have higher income) if there are less intermediaries in the chains. Analysis of financial performance shows that chains using imported inputs have a net value added much lower than domestic chains. In order to improve the chain, it is necessary to link the actors in the value chain more closely; to reduce the intermediary actors involved; to increase the supply of domestic raw materials; to adjust the export and processing strategies of the products.
