Abstract

In 2000, we conducted a study on child gender socialization. More than fifteen years later, this study targeted the same topic but the subject was youth. This comparative study is somewhat limited and relative, since it is not a totally longitudinal research design (also called a repeated study design). The article shows that gender socialization is the process of gender roles learning through social actors such as family, peer group, school, media, organizations. Thus, when referring to the above mentioned socialization actors, research has placed itself in the perspective of structural-functionalism. But at the same time, with comparative figures over time, research shows that profound changes in gender perception, in gender bias of individuals. These perception changes are caused by the changes in the social environment.
