Abstract

Based on secondary documents and in-depth interviews, this article reconstructs the migration and settlement process of the Tay people in the Thanh Son area (Dong Nai) from the late 1980s to the present. Tay people came to Thanh Son at different times and followed different itineraries: some families came directly, while others first lived in Ta Lai before moving to Thanh Son. After arriving, families continued to look for accommodation and production land to gradually stabilise their lives. Settlement took place over many years, associated with changes in local residential conditions, production and infrastructure. In Thanh Son, research shows that settlement is not just moving to a new place but a long process in which migrants gradually build a life and develop a long-term attachment to their place of residence.
